Communication on board is important. It helps, if everyone understands some basics sailing terms. Part I in English:
Bow
The front of the boat
Stern
The back of the boat
Port
The left side of the boat when facing forward
Starboard
The right side of the boat when facing forward
Beat
To sail upwind on a zigzag course
Head to Wind
When the bow of the boat points into the wind
Head up
To sail closer to the wind
Upwind
Sailing towards/into the wind
Downwind
Sailing away from the wind
Tack
To turn the bow of the boat through the wind (and change direction)
Gybe/Jibe
To turn the stern of the boat through the wind (and change direction)
