Bodrum: A Sailing Destination You Might Like
Bodrum is a charming port city in Turkey. Located 270 km south of Izmir on the Aegean coast and facing the Greek Island of Kos. From a once quiet town of fishermen it has become a popular tourist place with plenty of historical sites to visit and lots of bars and restaurants.
The Marina is very modern with all equipments. Great showers! Breakfast on top of the restaurant by the pool gives a fantastic view to the harbour entrance. «The Bodrum Marina Street» is in the center of town with a lively night life. If you look for a less expensive and less prestige place to stay: the Marina of Turgutreis, not far away, has also very good facilities.
The Aegean coast is a great place to sail. Lots of lovely bays and crystal clear water, lots of family owned restaurants with great food. Unfortunatelly, the traditional wooden yachts, the «Gülets» can be quite annoying and very loud. So try to avoid them.
Best sailing season is from May to October. July and August can be very hot and dry.
