Cooking on a Sailing Boat
April 10, 2012
«The Captain is the Cook». I am sure you agree, that there is no such thing as a good sailing trip without good food. There is nothing like enjoying a nicely prepared meal after a great sailing day.
However – cooking on a boat is not as easy as cooking at home. Take your time to plan and prepare. Here some tips how to do so:
- Plan all your meals and make a list before you go shopping
- Buy plenty of healthy snacks to serve throughout the day: Fruits, Nuts, Crackers etc.
- Bring your favorite kitchen tools with you, in case you sail with rental boats: your favorite knife maybe? A corkscrew? Italian Coffee Maker? Wine glasses? Cutting board?
- Bring some food from your home country: spices, your favorite coffee or tea, broth, fresh and crisp bread, home made pasta-sauce etc.
- Plan for lunches, that can be prepared in advance – do not think you will be able to cook while the boat is at sea.
